Press Information

To make it easier for you to report from the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa Triathlon, please read through the following information and fill in the online application for accreditation.

General information

The whole race section will be closed for road traffic on race day. Journalists and photographers can get as close to the athletes as spectators can without any access passes, which means even without accreditation it is possible to cover the events, take impressive pictures of the athletes and report directly from the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa Triathlon.

We can distribute accreditation to a limited amount of journalists/photographers only.

In the interest of the athletes we therefore ask you to apply for accreditation for the sections:

Swim Start
Transition Area
Finish Line
Media Centre

Only media representatives who applied online in advance will be accredited on presentation of a valid press ID. Please come to see us and pick up your accreditation together with press material at the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa Triathlon Media Centre.

The Media Centre will be open daily from Wednesday, 18th April 2012.

Equipment

Computer Equipment: In the Media Centre you will find 6 computer terminals (Windows/Word/online). Also, we can provide you with Modem connections (Western) or network adapter lines (RJ45) on demand to allow you to use your own laptop/notebook. If you need one of these lines please tell us at the end of the application form.
A fixed phone and a copy machine is available free of charge. In case you have special needs, please let us know at the end of the application form.

Press Conference

There will be a press conference where the top favourites will be introduced as well as a post-race press conference with the winners. Please check the agenda in the press section on our website for time and place of those conferences.

Media Rights

Television: South African Triathlon Corporation owns the Television rights to the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa Triathlon event.
Internet: South African Triathlon Corporation possesses the rights to publish audio and video material on the internet. We have an exclusive contract with our internet host, thus any other reporting on our event on the internet is limited to text and photographs.
Photographers: Photographers will be given accreditation for the use of photographs only in newspapers, magazines, books and the internet. Photographs must not be sold to athletes.
